Image mode

Text plus an AI-generated or uploaded image. The four source types, when to use each.

Updated 2026-07-22

Image mode is the Create tab that produces text + a static image. Best for Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and image-optional Facebook posts. The whole flow mirrors Create Post — the only difference is what feeds the visual.

Four source types

The source picker on Image mode has four options. Each one drives a different image pipeline.

Prompt

You write a text description of the image you want and the AI draws it from scratch. Best when:

  • The visual is illustrative or abstract (concepts, metaphors, quote graphics).
  • You don't have a specific product photo to hand.
  • You want the output to feel designed rather than photographed.

Tips:

  • Include composition hints ("centred subject, top-down", "wide shot", "flat lay").
  • Reference your Brand Visual colours implicitly ("warm palette", "muted greens").
  • Describe the mood, not just the object.

Product

Pick a product from your Products tab. The AI uses:

  • The product image as the visual anchor.
  • The product name and description as text material.
  • Colours from your Brand Visual as accents.

Great for launches, restocks, sales, and product-of-the-week posts. The AI will usually place the product photo in-frame and add designed text around it — quote card style.

Library

Pick an image or video from your Library. The Library is where every past generation lives, plus anything you've uploaded.

Best for:

  • Reusing a photo you love across multiple posts.
  • Turning a past design into a new variant (different caption, same visual).
  • Using UGC or photography you've already vetted.

The AI treats the library item as the primary visual and generates fresh copy around it. Image can also be edited (composite, colour shift, add text) via the Edit action.

Upload

Paste or drop a fresh image from your desktop. Same as Library, but for one-off images you don't want to add to your permanent Library.

Common use: dropping in a phone photo from that morning's shoot before it lives anywhere else.

Aspect ratio

Above the preview there's an aspect-ratio pill: 1:1 (Instagram feed), 9:16 (Stories / Reels covers), 4:5 (Instagram portrait). Pick the ratio that matches your primary destination — Postazo generates the visual at that ratio directly rather than cropping later.

Editing after generation

Every generated image has an Edit action that opens the same AI in an edit-in-place mode. Type what you want changed and it re-renders that part while keeping the rest.

Common edits:

  • "Replace the background with a wooden desk."
  • "Make the headline text larger."
  • "Swap the colour to teal."

Edits also work on uploaded / library images, not just AI-generated ones.
